GPS POSITIONING FOR PRECAST CONCRETE ELEMENTS
May 2022
The Kirchdorfer Group will be presenting KUDIS – a mobile APP for the digital recording and cartographic localization of precast concrete elements – for the first time at the Construction Congress.
KUDIS was developed by the Kirchdorf-based Concrete Solutions division to digitally record, locate and document precast concrete parts throughout their entire service life using an app. All recorded data can be automatically retrieved in real time and imported into other systems using customized interfaces. This represents a significant step in Kirchdorf’s digitalization strategy towards smart, IoT-networked precast elements.
The path of every precast concrete element that leaves a Kirchdorfer plant is fully documented with KUDIS, from its creation to its installation. In addition to the exact geo-coordinates of the storage and final positions, all product properties and process data relating to production, transportation, installation, any maintenance and repairs, right through to the disposal of each individual precast element are recorded during order processing.
There are also plans to handle acceptance procedures and compile customer-specific construction site reports, including digital signatures, in real time. “The potential savings from digital, accompanying monitoring are enormous. Even the subsequent measurement of precast elements could be eliminated due to the positioning accuracy,” says Dipl.-Ing. Alexander Barnaš, Head of R&D Kirchdorfer Concrete Solutions. “Infrastructure operators of road, rail and wastewater networks in particular will benefit from KUDIS.”
The first applications for construction site inspections, the management of temporary concrete safety barriers and the efficient handling of maintenance activities have already proven their worth in 2021. Work is currently underway to record the position of all DELTABLOC® concrete crash barriers.
At this year’s Building Congress in Vienna, Dipl.-Ing. Barnas will present KUDIS for the first time and report on initial projects as part of his lecture: April 29, 10:20 a.m., Austria Center Vienna.
